Congress of the International Boxing Association (IBA) voted against holding a re-election of the president of the organization.

Thus, the Russian Umar Kremlev will remain as president of the organization. He was re-elected for a new term on 14 May in Istanbul.

For the first time, Kremlev was elected President of the IBA in December 2020.

Now the IBA will make every effort to include boxing in the program of the 2024 and 2028 Olympic Games, Umar Kremlev said.

“We will do everything to make boxing a part of the 2024 and 2028 Olympic Games and no one could exclude us. But for us, the IBA world series should be the most important thing, because this is our home. We need people who send children to boxing , knew that this was a ladder that you could climb high,” Kremlev said.

Earlier it was reported that the work of the extraordinary congress in Yerevan was interrupted due to a power outage.

The current president of the IBA is Russian Umar Kremlev, who was re-elected for a new term at a congress in Istanbul on May 14. Then he remained the only candidate, since his opponent, the Dutchman Boris van der Furst, was removed from the election. Van der First later appealed the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Kremlev and van der First were to be candidates for the IBA presidency in the new elections, if they were held.
