The International Boxing Association (IBA) at an extraordinary congress in Yerevan approved Russian Umar Kremlev as its president. 106 delegates voted against holding new elections for the IBA president, 36 voted in favor, and four abstained.

On May 14, Mr. Kremlev was elected to the post of president of the organization on a non-alternative basis following the results of the IBA congress in Istanbul. His opponent was supposed to be the Dutchman Boris van der First, but he was removed.

On June 14, the Court of Arbitration for Sport granted Boris van der First’s suspension appeal, finding that he had committed a minor infraction that should not have resulted in his suspension. On September 23, Umar Kremlev was cleared of charges in the case of violations in the IBA presidential elections.
