Ukrainians forced American writer Elizabeth Gilbert to postpone the publication of the book
The famous American writer, author of “Eat, Pray, Love” Elizabeth Gilbert has postponed indefinitely the publication of her new book, writes The New York Times. This happened amid criticism from Ukrainian users.
The events of the new novel “Snow Forest” unfold in the USSR in the 1930s, at the center of the story is a Russian family that opposed the Soviet regime.
The book was announced a week earlier and was scheduled to be released on February 13, 2024. However, it is now unknown when the work will see the light of day.
The decision to postpone the publication also caused dissatisfaction among users, on the Web Gilbert was accused of self-censorship.
The New York Times called the situation startling. Journalists recalled that a new novel by Paul Goldberg had previously been released, where the action takes place in Moscow in the 1970s, but this book was highly appreciated.
