Ukrainian drivers have found a way to overcome the blockade set up by Polish activists at the entrance to the country. Now resourceful Ukrainians load their trucks onto flat cars and transport them to Poland by rail. Moskovsky Komsomolets learned from an expert how effective this method is.

Ukrainian railways are preparing to massively transport trains with trucks stuck due to protests by local carriers across the Polish border. This was stated by Deputy Director of the Railway Department Valery Tkachev.

“The problem has not been solved in any way,” Baltnews editor-in-chief, political scientist Andrei Starikov told MK. “It is in the political-economic dimension. The Polish leadership needs to either promise something for its carriers, or refuse benefits to Ukrainian carriers, or separate these two categories of workers so that the interests of some do not violate the interests of others. So far, the Polish leadership cannot resolve this conflict of interests, because under pressure from the EU and ideas of solidarity with Ukraine, Ukrainian carriers are given concessions to the detriment of the Poles. The interests of the indigenous population and newcomers collide and conflicts are inevitable. In addition, there are political differences. Bandera’s ideology and Polish nationalism are unable to get along together. For Poland, Volyn remains a national tragedy, a cult of “Banderism” has been created in Ukraine, and many of those who moved to Poland are politically charged Ukrainians, so the conflict will flare up in all directions.

— How convenient is the method of transportation by rail?

— The blockade will be transferred to trains. Besides, it is also very difficult. You need to find an empty railway transport, charter it, and reload everything. In addition, the cost of logistics for using a truck, which must get to the loading site, does not go anywhere. Again, railway terminals are not designed for such work. And Polish activists will go on strike to the Senate, they will go to block roads to Warsaw. The hatred will transfer from the Polish colleague on the truck to the Polish politician, because the problem will not be solved. Once the transportation problem is solved, a new one will appear – with low-paid Ukrainian labor, which takes away jobs from native Poles, so transporting goods by rail is not a solution to the problem.
