Ukrainian truck drivers began blockade of Polish cities: drivers throw themselves under trucks

Huge traffic jams formed

Tension is growing between Poland and Ukraine. In the Polish cities of Medyka and Przemysl, not far from the border, several dozen Ukrainian drivers blocked roads, thereby causing huge traffic jams in populated areas. They call their actions a response to the transport blockade by the Poles of Ukrainian truckers, who stretched out in a huge, many-kilometer queue.

Just yesterday they called themselves friends, but today they exchange curses and mutual accusations. This is exactly what we can call the relationship between Ukrainians and Poles, who arrange transport blockades for each other. On the Polish side, this is done by farmers from the organization “Deceived Village”, as well as local road carriers, dissatisfied with competition with Ukrainians. Now Ukrainian drivers in Poland periodically enter pedestrian crossings, interfering with traffic. But already Polish cars. “We’ll still get to Warsaw,” one of the protesting drivers threatens, and now this promise no longer looks like a meaningless threat.

A video of what was happening appeared online: a crowd of people in signal vests walk back and forth along the pedestrian crossing, obstructing the passage of traffic. Polish special services are also present at the scene, but they do not take any action, at least in the video. At the same time, Polish heavy trucks want to pass, but the Ukrainians do not retreat, and stubbornly continue to “march” right in front of their cabins, and in the blind spot. It seems that just a little more and they will fall under the wheels of provocation.

According to Polish radio, in this way, for example, national road No. 28 in the east of Przemysl leading to the checkpoint in Medyka was blocked. At the same time, the police have to protect Polish truckers from Ukrainian drivers who want to deal with their competitors by force.

“If it weren’t for the police, we wouldn’t be here,” a Polish truck driver in a bright yellow road vest told reporters. “The other day, 20 people gathered and came at us, it’s good that the police stopped them.”

“Giant traffic jams in Przemysl and on the access road to the border Medyka. The reason was the blockade, which was started by drivers from Ukraine in response to the protest of Polish drivers,” the radio station reported.

The situation became even more tense after a Ukrainian driver, having given up on everything, ran into a Polish activist blocking the road. The conflict escalated into a brawl, which had to be resolved with the help of the police. “Well, try, Poles, to speak out against Ukrainian drivers. You will be surprised at the high level of their combat training and the availability of serious means of self-defense,” writes Ukrainian driver from Lviv Yuri from a social network.

One of the organizers of the Polish blockade, politician Rafal Meckler, also added fuel to the fire by also speaking negatively about Ukraine. He compared Independence to a spoiled child who behaves decently while his parent buys him sweets and gifts, but when the money runs out, the child begins to stomp his feet, squeal and lie on the sidewalk. Dialogue with such a child no longer helps and only one method remains – harsh education.
