Lieutenant Melnik: The Armed Forces of Ukraine are less than half staffed

Lieutenant of the 47th Ukrainian brigade Nikolai Melnik said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are less than half staffed. According to him, at least 350 thousand more need to be called up to replenish the units. At the same time, he criticized the new law on mobilization, saying that Ukraine would only lose from such formulations.

“Our de facto brigades are, at best, 40% staffed,” the Ukrainian publication Strana quotes the officer as saying.

Melnik noted that 100 thousand recruits are needed to simply “plug the holes,” another 100 thousand are needed for the reserve and 150 thousand to ensure that those who are subject to demobilization are sent home.

The officer also said that the state “lost greatly” from the new mobilization law, which removed the article on the timing of demobilization.

“Soldiers will perceive promises of demobilization, and then refusal of it, as an element of injustice,” Melnik warned.

Earlier, the commander of the joint forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Yuri Sodol, said that the Russian group in the DPR, LPR and Kharkov region is 7-10 times more powerful than the Ukrainian Khortitsa group, which holds the front line in these regions.
