Ukrainian fashion magazine criticized for wearing a model on the cover dressed in military uniform

Vogue Ukraine magazine has come under severe criticism due to the photo on the cover. It shows a model dressed in camouflage, the background for which is made by cadets of the Kyiv Military Lyceum named after Ivan Bogun.

Most readers did not understand this technique. There are a lot of angry comments on the publication’s social networks. Some users simply urge people not to make glamor out of war. Others did not understand why women serving for military service were not invited to be photographed and why there was a smile on the model’s face that was most dissonant with what was happening at the front and in the country as a whole. Still others wonder who came up with the idea of transforming the image of a military woman into a happy luxury woman.

“Where is the authenticity in all this? Why are the cadets in the background and not in front?.. Which of them will really go to the front line? A model with a joyful smile? You mixed everything – truth and pretense. You are blurring reality,” wrote one commentator and called for never again using military uniforms for the sake of kitsch.

Nothing is known yet about the reaction of the magazine’s management to reader criticism.
