Acting Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Matvey Bedny called the decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to allow Russian athletes to participate in the Olympic Games in Paris in a neutral status irresponsible.
Bedny said that in light of new information, a decision on the participation of Ukrainian athletes in the 2024 Olympic Games will be made later, after consultations with the sports community and the country’s top political leadership.
State Duma deputy Amir Khamitov responded to the decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to admit Russian athletes to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The parliamentarian noted that the requirement for neutral status remains offensive and absurd for Russia.
President of the Russian Weightlifting Federation Maxim Agapitov said that Russian weightlifters will not go to the 2024 Olympic Games because they missed all the qualifying competitions, and are also not ready to compete without the flag and anthem, because they think so violation of human rights.
