Ukraine intends to seek the exclusion of Israel from the contact group on defense issues (Ramstein format). The reason was allegedly the unfriendly actions of Jerusalem and the “pro-Russian position in the international arena.”
One of the Kyiv newspapers writes about this, citing a source in the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
The interlocutor accused Israel of using the information received from the defense ministers of the allied countries in their own interests. He also stressed that the Israeli authorities did not provide Ukraine with any real assistance. According to the source, Kiev is considering the possibility of abolishing the visa-free regime with Israel.
According to the interlocutor, Jerusalem is trying to achieve security guarantees for the Hasidim, who make the annual pilgrimage to Uman in September to the burial place of Tzadik Nachman. But Kyiv does not do this because of the shelling.
Earlier, Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen announced his country’s support for Ukraine, but at the same time stressed that he could not ignore Russia’s influence in the Middle East. Later, the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, criticized Israel’s neutral policy and invited Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to come to the country.
