The Ukrainian authorities began to recruit police officers to the Armed Forces of Ukraine as part of the mobilization, reports aif.ru. Earlier, military registration and enlistment office employees and prison guards began to be sent to the front line, the publication recalls.
Over the course of a week, 22 Ukrainian police officers and 142 border guards from the Armed Forces of Ukraine were killed in Kleshcheevka, the authors of the publication stated with reference to the Whispers of the Front Telegram channel. As specified, the data provided is only confirmed by the Ukrainian side.
Lieutenant Colonel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Vladimir Chernov said that police officers can own a service weapon (that is, a pistol), but if they are not in special units, they are not trained to fire machine guns and grenade launchers, that is, “in combined arms combat their expediency is very doubtful.”
The number of crimes on the streets of Lviv and other Ukrainian cities is increasing, a former police major said on condition of anonymity.
