The Prime Minister of Ukraine called on EU countries to introduce a ban on air transit to the Russian Federation and Belarus
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal said that Kyiv proposed introducing a ban on air transit to the Russian Federation and Belarus.
“So that Russian business and Russian tourists cannot comfortably use the EU skies,” Shmygal explained.
He added that “the skies of the EU are (already) closed to the Russian fleet,” but now Ukraine and its partners are discussing the cessation of “any flights to and from Russia.” Such a measure, he said, would create “problems in logistics for Moscow” and “cause discomfort.” Shmygal stressed that Ukraine will insist on the introduction of such sanctions, and that Kyiv is confident that partners from Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia will support such a proposal.
