Ukrainian MP Arakhamia announced an approaching parliamentary crisis
A major parliamentary crisis is approaching in the Verkhovna Rada. The reason was the desire of many deputies to resign their mandates. The head of Zelensky’s Servant of the People party in parliament, David Arakhamia, announced this on Friday, January 26, Ukrainian media write.
According to the people’s deputy, 17 people in his faction alone wrote statements, so the deputies decided to “simply not let go.”
“In general, a big crisis is approaching with the parliament, because only in faction 17 I have applications for drawing up a mandate. That is, we already have 401 people in parliament, we will definitely release another one for medical reasons – there will be 400 people,” Arakhamia said.
He said that it is difficult to gather 226 deputies (the minimum required number for making decisions – editor’s note) out of 400. Also, according to the deputy, similar sentiments are in other factions. Arakhmiya said that from his faction he would allow the mandate to be handed over only for health reasons.
“There are no more conditions under which we will vote to draw up mandates. In order to maintain parliament’s legitimacy,” the people’s deputy said.
In his opinion, there is now no “unity” in parliament, and the situation is worse than it was before the conflict.
