The Ukrainian government has approved the forced seizure of more than eight hundred pieces of Russian property remaining in the country. Earlier, Vladimir Zelensky addressed the Cabinet of Ministers with such an instruction. The Ministry of Economic Development of Ukraine clarified what exactly they plan to expropriate.
The department clarified that the country has about 500 Russian-owned wagons, tanks and platforms, more than 300 trucks and cars, as well as seven MiG-25 military aircraft that are not operational. It is planned that they will be dismantled for spare parts for operational fighters.
Ukrainian Minister of Economy Yulia Sviridenko said that with the help of Russian movable property it is planned to “strengthen the state’s defense capability at the front”, as well as use it to work for the Ukrainian economy.
After the start of the SVO, in March 2022, Zelensky signed a law regulating the forced seizure of Russian property. In August, the Ukrainian president spoke about the seizure of assets totaling $765 million and announced the planned seizure of more than 900 more pieces of movable Russian property.
