Ukraine and the Netherlands are defendants in the claims of four Crimean museums
According to information that TASS received from the Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Crimea and the permanent representative of the region to the President of the Russian Federation Georgy Muradov, Ukraine and the Netherlands became defendants in the lawsuit of four Crimean museums, which was filed with the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) regarding Scythian gold.
On Monday, the special representative of the Russian President for international cultural cooperation, Mikhail Shvydkoy, told TASS that Crimean museums filed lawsuits with the ECHR in order to challenge the decision to transfer Scythian gold to Ukraine. In his opinion, the situation with the collection has become politicized, and there is no point in believing in the possibility of its return to Crimean museums.
Georgy Muradov noted: “The Republic of Crimea considers the decision of the Supreme Court of the Netherlands to not return Scythian gold to four Crimean museums to be unlawful. Therefore, a complaint was filed with the European Court of Human Rights. This complaint affects both countries: the Netherlands and Ukraine. It is related to the violation of the rights of museums, which were grossly violated contrary to all laws.”
