The National Agency of Ukraine for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) has included the Alibaba group of companies (the company owns, among other things, the AliExpress marketplace) in the list of “international sponsors of the war.” This is stated in the message of the department.

Alibaba was included in this list, among other things, because it provides Russia with its platforms for the sale of goods from copper, which was mined in new Russian territories, the NAPC explained. In addition, the agency accused the company of censoring and removing content related to the Ukrainian conflict.

It is specified that at the end of 2022, the profit of the Russian division of Alibaba amounted to 16.3 billion rubles. (about $160 million). Accordingly, the company continues to pay “significant taxes” to the Russian budget and thereby supports its economy, the NAPC concluded.

Previously, the list of “sponsors of the war” were included alcoholic beverages manufacturer Bacardi, Chinese automaker Geely, British corporation Unilever, Chinese technology manufacturers Xiaomi, etc.
