Medvedev called Sarkozy’s words about Crimea bold and precise

Deputy head of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev called the words of ex-President of France Nicolas Sarkozy about Crimea bold and precise. Medvedev also agreed with Sarkozy that Brussels is making false promises to Ukraine about joining the European Union.
“He [Николя Саркози — прим.] said that Crimea was a historical part of Russia, and Ukraine has no place in the EU. These statements are both bold and accurate,” the ex-president of Russia wrote on his Twitter account.
In addition, Medvedev noted that European politicians of the older generation were much larger than today’s ones. As an example, he just cited Sarkozy, who, according to the deputy head of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, helped resolve the conflict with Georgia in 2008.
Recall that earlier Nicolas Sarkozy in an interview with Figaro said that Crimea is a historically Russian territory, and its inhabitants identify themselves as Russians. Therefore, as the former French president noted, talk about the return of the peninsula to Ukraine is an illusion.
