In Crimea, Tyumen lawyer Alexei Ladin was detained and placed under arrest for two weeks, a law enforcement source told Kommersant.
According to the source, the lawyer was detained on charges of discrediting the Russian army and distributing extremist symbols on social networks when he entered the territory of Crimea. The Kiev District Court sentenced the lawyer to 14 days in custody and fined him 45 thousand rubles.
Alexey Ladin represents the interests of many Crimean Tatars and Ukrainian citizens accused of terrorism and espionage, as well as participation in banned groups.
Let us remember that last year in Crimea for several days detained four local lawyers at once. The first was Crimean Tatar human rights activist Edem Semedlyaev. After his arrest, he was fined for someone else’s post “discrediting the Russian army.” In court, his interests were represented by Nazim Sheikhmambetov, who was later himself detained and arrested for eight days under the “rally” article of the Administrative Code. Lawyers Aider Azamatov and Emin Avamileva were going to defend him, but they themselves were sent to a temporary detention facility for eight and five days, respectively, on similar charges.
