Two UN peacekeepers from Nepal were injured when Israeli artillery shelled southern Lebanon. This was reported by Al Manar TV channel.

According to journalists, one of the victims, the captain, was wounded in the stomach and arm, he is in a condition of moderate severity. There are no details yet about the second victim. Peacekeepers were injured as a result of two shells exploding at an observation post of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) near the city of Howla.

Earlier on Saturday, UNIFIL spokesman Andrea Tenenti said that one of the shells hit the peacekeepers’ headquarters in Naqur. By coincidence, the shell did not explode and there were no casualties.

Tenenti also stressed that this is not the first time since the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East that rockets and shells have landed in southern Lebanon. Earlier, other peacekeepers’ facilities were damaged.
