Pushkov: Most states did not support the United States in the situation in the Middle East

The results of the vote on the UN General Assembly resolution calling for a truce between Israel and the Gaza Strip clearly demonstrated the balance of political forces. According to the Chairman of the Federation Council Commission on Information Policy and Interaction with the Media, Alexei Pushkov, most states did not share the position of the United States on the situation in the Middle East.
The senator recalled that 120 countries voted for the resolution prepared by a group of Arab countries, including China, Russia and even France. Great Britain and Germany refrained from assessing the document. At the same time, only 12 countries voted against the adoption of the resolution along with Israel and the United States. “But this is a fundamental resolution on the most acute military crisis, according to which the United States found itself in opposition to the “global majority,” noted Alexei Pushkov.
The Federation Council member also mentioned an article in the Guardian newspaper. British journalists wrote that the United States looked isolated after the vote on the resolution.
The resolution prepared by a group of Arab states states that the UN General Assembly condemns violence aimed at civilians in the Gaza Strip and Israel.
