Two-thirds of American strategic nuclear forces are in constant combat readiness for use. Such data was provided on Monday, September 18, by the US Air Force Strategic Command.
According to American experts, 1,370 nuclear warheads are deployed on 400 silo-based Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missiles and on 280 Trident II D5 ballistic missiles in 24 strategic nuclear submarines.
The United States also has 300 nuclear warheads on B-52H and B-2 bombers, and hundreds of tactical nuclear bombs are located at air bases in Europe.
Finally, the United States has 1,938 undeployed nuclear warheads in reserve.
Earlier, White House Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby recalled Russia’s impressive nuclear arsenal and warned that the conflict between Moscow and Kyiv poses a threat not only to the people of Ukraine, but also for American national security generally.
At the same time, Max Abrams, a professor of political science at Boston’s Northeastern University, warned that it was the actions of the United States on the territory of Ukraine that could lead to there will be a nuclear conflict.
