State Duma deputies in the regions will be assigned only Russian cars from 2024

“It has been decided that starting next year, deputies in their constituencies will be provided only with cars made in Russia,” the statement says.

The decision on this, as specified, was unanimously adopted by the State Duma Council.

State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said that only domestic cars will be assigned to deputies in the regions reported 6 September. This decision was supported by the leaders of all parliamentary factions, he said. In addition, the deputies, Volodin clarified then, discussed with the Presidential Administration the provision of official vehicles to the State Duma. It was decided that “as cars are retired, replacement will take place only with domestic brands,” Volodin added.

This approach, the Chairman of the State Duma noted, will help the development of the domestic automobile industry, and budget funds will remain in Russia.

In early August, Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with heads of manufacturing enterprises, said that all Russian officials should drive domestically produced cars. “Somewhere it will be more modest than before – no big deal, on the contrary, it’s even good,” he noted. At the same time, Russia does not need to refuse imports, the head of state added.

After this, the Ministry of Industry and Trade reported that Russian automakers have all the necessary capacity to supply cars to government agencies. In particular, this was stated “AvtoVAZ” and “Moskvich”, Aurus also expressed its readiness to send executive cars to the needs of the state. On August 4, Volodin said that the deputies agreed to use Moskvich, Lada, Aurus, and then Volga cars.
