Two cases of monkeypox were discovered in St. Petersburg. This is stated in the Telegram channel of the city administration of Rospotrebnadzor.
The disease was diagnosed in two men who returned from a tourist trip to the administrative region of Hong Kong (People’s Republic of China).
The men were admitted to a specialized hospital. A set of anti-epidemic measures was organized and carried out in a timely manner; contact persons were identified and placed under observation.
Meanwhile, representatives of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation and the World Health Organization confirmed the unreliability of interpretations about the threat of a new pandemic. The Internet misinterpreted WHO reports about the development of a new international agreement to combat pandemics.
At the same time, the Russian Ministry of Defense warned that American military experts are studying the monkeypox virus and are searching for agent imitators of smallpox viruses. Such experiments may lead to the global epidemic threat.
