Two candidates for deputies and an observer detained in Moscow

In Moscow, candidates for municipal deputies Maxim Petrunin and Elena Propisnova were detained at the precinct election commission in the Krylatskoye district. Together with them, the police detained the observer Ivan Murzinov. They were taken to the district police department.

According to the municipal platform “Nomination”, the reason for the detention of the candidates was their attempt to film the delivery of military personnel to the polling station, which, according to the candidates and the observer, could be a violation of the law. On a common project video recordings it is captured how a policeman reports on the receipt of a complaint against Maxim Petrunin, who allegedly interfered with the exercise of electoral rights or the work of commissions (Article 141 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

Lawyer Oksana Borodina went to the detainees. “The defender is in the police department, but no one comes down to open the door for her and escort her to Maxim. In turn, the duty officer says that he cannot go anywhere, ”the OVD-Info report says (recognized as an NGO-foreign agent).

In Moscow, as part of a unified election campaign, municipal elections are being held from September 9 to 11. Approximately 6,000 candidates are running for 1,417 seats in municipalities. As of 12:00 Moscow time, the turnout in the elections in Moscow was 28.5%.
