One of the founders of Twitter Inc., its former CEO Jack Dorsey, has declared his responsibility for mass layoffs of employees under the new leader, Elon Musk.
Dorsey announced this on the social network of the same name (blocked in Russia).
“I am responsible for the fact that everyone found themselves in this situation: under me, the company grew too quickly,” he wrote.
Dorsey also apologized for what was happening and thanked everyone who worked on Twitter.
He also wrote that he loves them and noted that he does not expect reciprocity from former subordinates either now or in the future and treats this with understanding.
Earlier, Bloomberg reported that Elon Musk, having become the owner of Twitter, decided to review its personnel policy and announced plans to fire about half of all employees. The reduction may threaten from 3.7 thousand to 7.5 thousand employees, and those who remain in the company will be banned from working remotely. The agency claims that such measures are aimed at reducing costs.
Musk completed the deal to buy Twitter at the end of October. The next day, he fired the former management.
