TV channel “Russia” will determine the coolest teacher in the country

On January 6, the Rossiya TV channel will air the premiere of a new show and at the same time the grand finale of the federal project Cool Theme!

Seven teachers will present author’s original lessons in mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry, geography, history and the Russian language. And they will prove that each of the subjects of the school curriculum is worthy of becoming a spectacular intellectual show. The winner of the project, designed to raise the prestige of the most important profession of the future, will be the brightest and most modern teacher in the country, who can captivate the audience and explain the material of his subject in the most accessible way. The main prize is the author’s educational show on the federal channel with the winner of the Cool Topic! in the role of leader.

The Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Sergey Kravtsov speaks about the relevance and importance of the project: “2023 has been declared the year of the teacher and mentor by the president, this once again underlines the importance of the profession of a teacher, teacher. Today, at the forefront is the upbringing of our children, their personal development, the protection of traditional, spiritual, moral values ​​that the school brings up. And we will provide all the necessary support.”

Recall the chronology of the project. For three weeks, starting from July 21, 2022, the selection of participants took place. It was attended by 6,000 teachers from all regions of Russia, among whom were the hosts of author’s programs on regional TV channels, as well as participants in various federal projects, including “Educate a Person”, “Big Break”, the Forum of Class Teachers, the Russian Movement of Schoolchildren and the competition Russian Teacher of the Year.

35 teachers, selected by the expert commission of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation specifically for the TV show, made it to the semi-finals. Since the beginning of autumn, all participants have been presenting their original video tutorials in the Cool Theme! in the social network. Literally the whole country voted: the total number of views and contacts on the project exceeded 17 million. And most importantly, children were included in the voting. Both current students and graduates sincerely supported their favorite teachers and worried about the outcome of the vote. It is not surprising that during the project all teachers became real stars in their regions.

The all-Russian voting, which determined the finalists of the project, was also held on the social network VKontakte using a special chat bot. More than 230 thousand people took part in the voting.

Now the finalists are waiting for a real competition and the struggle for victory. Each participant of the project will hold the most exciting lesson in his career. After all the teachers present their lessons directly on the stage, the audience in the hall will receive voting consoles and will be able to cast their vote in real time for the teacher who will win their hearts.

Students in the grand show will be not only viewers, but also guests in the studio – schoolchildren, participants in federal projects and competitions, and a respected expert jury: journalist, director of the Institute of Media of the Higher School of Economics Ernest Mackevicius; neuroscientist, director of the HSE Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience Vasily Klyucharev; actress, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Marina Zudina, actress Elena Podkaminskaya and People’s Artist of the Russian Federation, actor, TV presenter and film producer Dmitry Kharatyan.

The host of the grand show “Cool theme!” On the Rossiya TV channel, Dmitry Shepelev is convinced that a real teacher is a lively, interesting and passionate person. “My main teachers in life were extremely enthusiastic and charged unusually. And I think that it is very important to show such teachers as an example to the whole country.”

Ernest Mackevicius: “Youth cannot be beaten by dull didactics today. A person who tells something to another person and wants the other person to hear him, understand him, accept those important postulates that are put into his head, must be a master. And in this sense, the teacher – we just didn’t admit it to ourselves – is a showman.

Dmitry Kharatyan: “In my opinion, a good teacher, of course, must also have good acting qualities. Directly according to Stanislavsky: brightness, persuasiveness, contagiousness, attention, concentration and the ability to capture the attention of the audience and convey the goal, the task that is in front of you. And if the lesson is in this form, it will be, in my opinion, more interesting than the unemotional, dry delivery of knowledge to students. It’s alive, it’s living energy.”

Marina Zudina: “It is very important to teach children to learn, and not to hammer some knowledge into them. It is important that there is a trusting relationship between teacher and students. It seems to me that the teacher should react very sensitively to the… how shall I put it, the breath of the class, to feel whether the students understand him. Students should not be afraid to ask questions. They should not be afraid to say that they do not understand something. Again, this is a matter of trust.

Elena Podkaminskaya: “It’s really an art to be a teacher and give a student more than just knowledge. Emotional attachment to the teacher has always been very important for me. That is, it is not just admiration for his professional level, but also such love, such communication – informal, outside the lesson, when there is a special exchange. Such teachers are of particular interest to me.”
