Figure skating coach Eteri Tutberidze for the first time commented in detail on the doping situation of Kamila Valieva. According to her, even two years later, the incident was not properly investigated, but she has no questions for Kamila.
Tutberidze wrote on social networks that against the backdrop of this whole situation, she received undeserved endless hate and accusations against her for two years. However, her entire team was strictly prohibited from commenting or assessing the situation. The coach emphasized that her students have been competing since 2010; they have passed many doping tests, which have always been clean.
“We have always taught and explained to our athletes and their parents that they need to be more careful when taking even the simplest medications for colds and, unfortunately, cannot trust absolutely anyone. And now, after two years, nothing has become clear, and they have not investigated the origin of this drug, a lot of questions remain,” she said.
Tutberidze emphasized that she has no questions for Valieva, since she is a child. She promised to always support the athlete and stated that “no offense to other athletes,” she considers her the most gifted of her pupils.
She wondered who defended Camila in court, because the verdict given was the worst possible.
“Camila’s story is our pain,” she concluded.
