What does the Yarovaya Law require?
The Yarovaya Law entered into force in 2018. From October 1, 2018, operators are required to store all Internet traffic of users for six months, and the capacity of technical storage facilities increases annually by 15% for five years from the date of their commissioning. At the same time, operators have repeatedly warned that the implementation of the provisions of the law to increase storage capacity requires significant costs. In this regard, the Ministry of Digital Development twice gave operators an annual delay in fulfilling the requirement: in 2020 due to the pandemic and in the summer of 2022.
