Türkiye will accept about 1,000 victims from the Gaza Strip

Turkey will accept about 1,000 cancer patients and other affected residents from the Gaza Strip, the country’s Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said.

“We continue to work to bring to Egypt through the Rafah border crossing the approximately 1,000 patients and wounded who were previously reported to us and who are in need of urgent treatment,” – wrote Minister at X (formerly Twitter).

It is clarified that the patients include cancer patients who were treated at a Turkish-Palestinian hospital in the enclave. “We then plan to bring cancer patients and those in critical condition to our country,” he added.

In addition, during negotiations with the Egyptian Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, an agreement was reached on the entry of two Turkish ships to send field hospitals and ambulances.

The number of people injured as a result of Israeli strikes on the Gaza Strip has reached about 9,500 people, with more than 24,000 injured. The bombing of the enclave by the Israeli army began on October 7, after the attack of the Palestinian group Hamas on the southern regions of the Jewish state.

During the attack, about 1,400 people were killed, and more than 200 were taken hostage by the militants. There were also reports of captured Russians. On October 27, the Israeli military announced an expansion of the ground operation and called on residents of the northern Gaza Strip to move to the south. On November 2, the Israeli army conducted an operation to encircle Gaza City, then starting fighting in the city with Hamas militants.
