A protest rally took place outside the Swedish Consulate General in Istanbul, during which Turkish activists burned the Swedish flag, T24 reports.
The action was a response to the provocative actions of the far-right Danish politician Rasmus Paludan. A lawyer by profession, he also leads the anti-Islamic Hard Deal party.
The day before in Stockholm, Paludan defiantly burned a copy of the Koran in front of the Turkish embassy. It is worth noting that this is not the first time a politician has burned a sacred book for Muslims.
Paludan, according to the information of the Nordic News portal, received official permission to hold an action with the burning of the Koran from the Turkish diplomatic department.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry said: the burning of the Koran in the Swedish capital indicates the level of Islamophobia, racism and discrimination in Europe. The burning of the holy book was condemned by the foreign ministries of the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
