Turchak urged to abandon Western standards in Russian production

Secretary of the General Council of “United Russia” Andrey Turchak believes that Western regulations and standards that “were imposed on Russia” should be abandoned. It is they, he argues, that hold back domestic production.
Mr. Turak raised this topic at a meeting on import substitution. He is sure that “nothing is wrong” because of failure from cars of the Euro-5 standard did not happen, and Russia “did not roll back to the last century.” The politician called for “carrying out similar work in other areas” and “cleaning up” Russian technical regulations, and setting their own standards.
“It is necessary step by step to remove the barriers that hinder domestic production. First of all, we are talking about Western regulations and standards that have been imposed on us in recent years. A striking example here is the renewal of the environmental standard for car engines,” Andrei Turchak is convinced (quoted by RIA Novosti).
Similar changes in the financial sector were proposed by the head of VTB Andrey Kostin. In June 2022 he declaredthat under the sanctions, the international Basel standards that regulate the work of banks do not work. He suggested replacing Basel with a Russian system, calling it Voronezh-1. The head of the Central Bank, Elvira Nabiullina, said Russia has no plans to do so.
