The 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump, refused to plead guilty to new counts as part of a criminal investigation into the mishandling of classified documents.
A court in Florida received official notice that the politician will not be able to personally participate in the meeting and declares his innocence.
Trump has previously pleaded not guilty to four criminal charges related to attempts to cancel the 2020 presidential election. The next hearing in this case will take place on August 28.
Trump also faces over 30 counts of knowingly possessing national defense information under the Espionage Act, conspiracy to obstruct justice, and making false statements.
Political scientist Konstantin Blokhin said that the US authorities are not bringing the case to the arrest of the 45th US President Donald Trump, despite the charges against him, because they are afraid of protests. The expert suggested that political opponents from the Democratic Party will continue to try to weaken Trump’s position, but if he manages to avoid arrest and prison time, the presidency will remain with him.
