Traktor failed to interrupt Metallurg’s winning streak

The fourth South Ural derby of the season ended with a major victory for Metallurg over Traktor 6:3. “Metallurg” has a hat-trick from Alexander Petunin, as well as 1+5 points from Nikita Mikhailis. Robin Press and Danila Yurov also scored goals. The victory was the ninth in a row for Andrei Razin’s team. For Traktor, Madison Baoui scored two goals and Vitaly Kravtsov scored one. Maxim Shabanov extended his personal scoring streak to 14 matches in a row and took first place in the history of the Chelyabinsk team according to this indicator.

“Traktor” approached the meeting against the backdrop of a minimal home defeat from Avangard in overtime 1:2, but with overall positive dynamics. But the main thing is that the Chelyabinsk team defeated the Magnitogorsk team in all three previous matches of this season.

There have been several changes in the Black and White lineup. Nikita Podskrebalin appeared in goal, showing himself confidently against Metallurg. The match began with a quick goal from the hosts: Robin Press punished the second line of the Chelyabinsk team for lack of composure, sending the puck right into the far “nine” of the Podskrebalin goal. At the equator of the period, Traktor’s fourth line lost a throw-in in the opponent’s zone and missed a swift attack, which was completed by Danila Yurov. At the end of the period, the guests tried to use long-range artillery, but Ilya Nabokov coped with the throw of Chelyabinsk defender Ilya Karpukhin.

At the start of the second period, Traktor’s fourth line again failed to cope with its duties, which allowed Alexander Petunin to make the score big. After this, the Chelyabinsk team changed their goalkeeper – Zach Fucale appeared on the ice. But the Canadian also failed to contain Metallurg’s double majority after the removals of Sergei Telegin and Buddy Robinson. Nikita Mikhailis converted 5 on 3 for his team. Perhaps the best moment of “Traktor” in the period was from Maxim Shabanov in the minority, but Nabokov came to the rescue.

In the third period, the Chelyabinsk team seemed to simply capitulate. Alexander Petunin scored a double, again with the connivance of the visiting defenders. But Alexey Zavarukhin shuffled the forwards in the attacking trio and it worked. First, Semyon Der-Arguchintsev took the puck in the opponent’s zone and, with the help of his teammates, brought out Madison Baoui to shoot, and the Canadian showed the power of the shot. A little later, Vitaly Kravtsov reminded of himself naked. One of the assistants was Maxim Shabanov, which allowed him to extend his scoring streak. “Metallurg” had no time for jokes after the second accurate shot by Madison Baoui with the “black and white” goalkeeper removed. But the comeback still didn’t happen. Traktor took off the goalkeeper again and allowed Alexander Petunin to score a hat-trick.

6:3 – a convincing victory for Metallurg in the fourth South Ural derby. If you don’t take the last part of the game, Traktor played their worst match under the leadership of Alexei Zavarukhin. Despite this, Maxim Shabanov continued his scoring streak and with 14 matches in a row became the absolute record holder in the history of Traktor, ahead of the current sports director of Metallurg Sergei Gomolyako.

And Magnitka continues its powerful winning streak of up to nine matches. We celebrate the hat-trick of Alexander Petunin and the unique achievement of Nikita Mikhailis, who participated in all six of his team’s goals and scored 1+5 points.
