Kirov chess players, led by the head of the regional Chess Federation Evgeny Shamov, turned to Governor Alexander Sokolov with the initiative. The talk was about organizing clubs where adult chess lovers could train and hone their skills.
The head of the region approved the initiative. Now officials have to find premises that will be registered with the Ministry of Sports. The Chess Federation will take over the organization of tournaments and the work of the club as a whole.
Interestingly, the chess club will be named after the famous international grandmaster Sergei Karyakin. He recently visited the Kirov region and opened a chess club at the public support headquarters.
