Tourists warned of dangers in Turkish resorts: how to respond to anti-Russian cries

According to the results of the election day on May 14, during the preparation for which Turkey was seriously heated, the tension only continues to grow: none of the candidates managed to get ahead, so the second election round awaits the country on May 28. Guests of the country in these two weeks are asked to be especially vigilant so as not to inadvertently fall victim to the passions of the heated hosts. Representatives of the host side clarify: especially the warnings concern Russians and Americans – they are considered the main evil in the two main opposing camps into which Turkish society has broken today. We learned what exactly our compatriots should be afraid of.

The Turkish tourism industry is lamenting: entering the second round means at least 2 more weeks of losses. Even the all-inclusive hotels favored by tourists, which sharply lowered prices at the start of the season, did not particularly save the situation.

“Of course, the cheaper blocks of seats were immediately bought out,” a Turkish travel agency cooperating with Russia admits. – But this is for the near future, and we cannot sell tours at such prices all the time, they do not pay for themselves. And if at a loss, then this is no longer a business, but charity.

Everything to keep the Russians?

– Everything in order to have time to earn at least something on them, since no one knows what will happen next. Russian tour operators are obliged to warn their tourists about the dangers that threaten them now in Turkey. Of course, no one will harm the guests on purpose, but it is quite likely to accidentally fall under a hot hand. Moreover, Erdogan’s opponents are shouting anti-Russian slogans on the street, allegedly Russia is interfering in the elections. In another camp, however, anti-American appeals are shouted out in exactly the same way, but we have almost no American vacationers, only working ones. Because of the distance, for a simple American vacationer, Turkey is not a budget holiday, but an expensive one.

Meanwhile, interruptions in air traffic between the Russian Federation and Turkey have been going on since Friday. And even though different air carriers seem to have no single reason for delays and cancellations, each of them voices its own technical reasons, but you can’t get away with the “sediment”.

– When you fly just for a week for big money, spending a day at the airport is beyond! – an indignant tourist whose flight from Moscow to Antalya was postponed altogether the next day. “I’m not going to Turkey again!”

Passengers of the Sunday flight of the national Turkish carrier, which was eventually postponed to the Monday in question, could not fly out, since the board plying on the Moscow-Antalya route, in turn, could not fly out of Turkey. Its passengers will also remember not so much the gentle Turkish Riviera as the unkind road home.

“The flight was at 8.30,” passengers share. – Then they moved it to 13.00. Then they let me on the plane, but it never took off, they sat in it for 4 hours, like in a prison. Then they said they were rescheduling for 9pm. They sat hungry all day – okay, they were still adults, but there was nowhere to feed the children either. Only when the rebellion was already raised, they bought us hamburgers …

In total, over the past weekend, three airliners of the Turkish air carrier flew to Russia with a delay, on which there were a total of more than 700 Russians; the last board was delayed for 12 hours. The carrier’s representatives called the reason for the delay “the repair of the runway of the Antalya airport”, which allegedly caused problems not only for the aircraft heading to the Russian Federation, but also for everyone else.

However, at the same time, but from Istanbul, the board of the domestic national carrier could not fly either: according to him, the flight was canceled for technical reasons, and the passengers were seated on other flights. And according to the version of the passengers of the ill-fated board, only six business class passengers were “seated” on another plane, among whom was our star Anna Semenovich, and the rest were left “solutions to technical problems”. “They said to wait for this board to be repaired,” outraged tourists wrote on social networks. “They don’t provide a hotel, we sleep on benches.”

Domestic experts admit: from May 13 to May 15, liners traveling to the Russian Federation encountered “problems” in 80% of cases. But this in no way confirms persistent rumors that air traffic between Russia and Turkey may be suspended. There is no need to worry about this, the situation is already getting better, all the boards, albeit late, but flew to their destinations. And now it is better for the Russians to worry not about this, but about their own safety on the Turkish coast. Those who made it safely to their resting place are now greeted with warnings:

“We grabbed a last-minute tour for just 100 thousand for two,” says a Russian woman from Volgograd, who arrived in Turkish Side with a friend the day before. – We arrived satisfied, but it turned out that we are completely at risk here. Do not walk the streets one or two, having heard anti-Russian cries, pretend to be non-Russians, avoid bazaars, cafes, shops and bus tours to large cities. Why then did we even come? Side is a small town, it’s boring to sit on one beach, and groups don’t drive along it. And if it’s dangerous to walk around Side together, going into shops and markets, then a group can only take a bus to Antalya. But even such trips are now canceled as risky.

Relocants from compatriots also share warnings and fears with each other:

“They say that if Erdogan wins, then wait for the Turkish “maidan,” lists the most common local fears, a Russian who has settled in Marmaris. – They do not advise to go to Ankara, Istanbul and Izmir in the next month. And also in the areas affected by the earthquake, where the people are especially heated, since many have nothing to lose. And no outcome, by the way, reduces the risks. In Turkey, more than 85% of the population vote, which is more than 50 million people. And no matter which of the two main contenders wins, in any case, there will be 25 million dissatisfied. And so many disgruntled Turks are, to put it mildly, unsafe.
