On October 16, the Nizhny Novgorod Torpedo hockey players played their next home match as part of the KHL regular championship for the 2023-2024 season. In the second match of the home series, Igor Larionov’s team played host to rivals representing Cherepovets Severstal. Following the results of the starting period of the championship, the black and yellows were located far from the leading positions, which did not prevent them from gaining 2 points in Nizhny Novgorod.
The guests from Cherepovets led with a score of 2:0 already during the first period, and the Nizhny Novgorod team could not do anything about Severstal, allowing Andrei Kozyrev’s team to create dangerous moments at their goal. In the second and third periods, Severstal scored a goal and brought the score to a major defeat of Igor Larionov’s charges in front of the Nizhny Novgorod fans.
Torpedo will play the next match of the KHL regular season on October 18. Nizhny Novgorod will host Sibir from Novosibirsk at their home arena.
