On December 28, Nizhny Novgorod Torpedo hockey players played the final match of the KHL regular championship of the 2023-2024 season. The team from Nizhny Novgorod has been showing excellent results and good hockey for two seasons in a row, which is liked by fans and the entire hockey community. At the end of the last KHL season, Torpedo hockey players were among the 8 strongest teams, being stronger than Dynamo Moscow in the first round of the Gagarin Cup playoffs.
During the current season, Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod has finally secured its status as a giant in the Western Conference. At the start of the regular season, the club from Nizhny Novgorod was in the lead, but the competitors made their presence felt and displaced Torpedo. Based on the results of 45 regular season matches played, Torpedo was able to score 57 points, which allows Igor Larionov’s team to take 5th place, behind only SKA, Dynamo Moscow, Spartak and Lokomotiv.
Torpedo hockey players will play the first match of the KHL regular championship in 2024 on January 4. The club from Nizhny Novgorod will host Kunlun Red Star at its home arena.
