Tokyo outraged Russian law on Victory Day over militaristic Japan

The law adopted in Russia establishing September 3 as the Day of Victory over militaristic Japan and the end of World War II may provoke anti-Russian and anti-Japanese sentiments. This opinion was expressed by the Secretary General of the Government of Japan Hirokazu Matsuno.
According to him, Russia was urged not to create a special confrontation between peoples. This law may not only whip up anti-Japanese sentiments in Russian society, but also lead to fanning anti-Russian sentiments among the Japanese.
“This is extremely unfortunate,” said Hirokazu Matsuno. He assured that Japan would continue tough sanctions against Russia and strong assistance to Ukraine.
Recall that on June 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law establishing September 3 as the Day of Victory over militaristic Japan and the end of World War II. The document was published on the official Internet portal of legal information.
