Shoigu visited the advanced command post of the “Western” group

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu checked the forward command post of the “Western” group of troops in the zone of the special operation in Ukraine, informed Telegram channel of the Ministry of Defense.

“At the command post, the head of the Russian military department heard a report by the commander of the group, Colonel-General Yevgeny Nikiforov, on the current situation, the nature of the enemy’s actions and the performance of combat missions by Russian troops in the main tactical directions,” the report says.

Shoigu also held a meeting with the command of the group, during which he called it very effective the identification and destruction of military equipment and fighters of the Armed Forces of Ukraine by its forces.

The minister also instructed to continue to conduct active reconnaissance activities to suppress enemy plans on the distant approaches to the front line.

On June 22, Shoigu, at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine, after “carrying out active hostilities for almost 16 days,” reduced their activity, having suffered significant losses. Now the enemy is regrouping and re-equipping troops, he reported.

Shoigu said that Western countries plan to supply additional weapons to Ukraine in 2023. In particular, these are 250 tanks, including about 120 German Leopards, 31 American Abrams and “the remnants that they have collected around the world, these are 95 T-72 tanks,” he said.

The Minister also reported to the President on the formation of the reserve army. According to him, it will be created by the end of June, and an army corps will also be formed in the near future – they will receive over 3,700 pieces of equipment.
