Tokayev spoke out against economic sanctions

Economic sanctions have a negative impact on global trade and the well-being of states, said President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS.
“Kazakhstan, in principle, opposes the use of economic sanctions, which have the most disastrous negative impact on global trade and the well-being of states,” the president said, speech published his press office.
According to Tokayev, volatility is increasing due to restrictions in global trade.
At the end of August, at a meeting of the Dialogue of Heads of State in the BRICS Plus format, Tokayev statedthat food and fertilizers should be exempted from any sanctions to strengthen food security.
On July 17, Russia left the grain deal. Moscow expressed its intention to return to the agreement as soon as its conditions, spelled out in the second part of the grain agreement, which was not fulfilled, are fulfilled. After this, the Kremlin announced its readiness to replace supplies of Ukrainian grain for free to needy African countries.
In early October, Russian Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev reportedthat grain supplies from Russia to African countries will begin before the end of autumn. As Russian President Vladimir Putin reported, Russia will deliver 25,000-50,000 tons of grain to six African countries free of charge.
