Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov explained the presence of the Ukrainian flag on the honorary badge of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), which was presented to the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
“…De jure Ukraine is a member of the CIS,” explained the press secretary, as quoted by the Kremlin Pool Telegram channel.
Legally, Ukraine is still a member of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) organization and is a party to more than 150 international agreements signed within the commonwealth. This was reported in August by the director of the first department of the CIS countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Mikael Agasandyan.
