To replace those mobilized in Kuzbass, students were brought to work

The Governor of Kuzbass, Sergey Tsivilev, announced the launch of a “labor mobilization program for students” in the region. Students will be sent to work at local industrial enterprises to replace the workers mobilized in the SVO. Thus, the region hopes to “maintain the pace of production.”

Sergei Tsivilev said so: “The last-year students of universities and colleges will temporarily take on the labor duties of mobilized fellow countrymen.” At the same time, the guys “will receive a paid practice in their field and will help Kuzbass enterprises maintain the pace of production.” For two weeks, a line of organizations from the Kemerovo region has already lined up for students – there are 34 of them today. These are coal, construction, transport and logistics companies.

“Kuzbass enterprises need to place an application, what competencies are needed, and universities and colleges will select these people from students,” the head of the Kemerovo region specified. According to him, 23 students have already returned to work.

What will happen to the education of such students? What is the mechanism, according to what criteria will I recruit students? We learned all the details directly from the Kuzbass Polytechnic University, which participates in the program.

“We have a center for advanced professional training in our region, and employers send their vacancies to this center every day,” Natalia Kudrevatykh, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of the Kuzbass State Technical University named after T. F. Gorbachev, told MK. – A Career Center has been created at our university, the head of which deals with the employment of our students, and she will just interact on labor mobilization …

You need to understand that the request goes to all educational institutions of higher and secondary specialized education. Therefore, information about vacancies is sent to our institutes for processing.

For example, a university employee sees that there is a vacancy in the summary table according to the profile of the Kuzbass Polytechnic University – for example, a mine surveyor (IT specialist, power engineer, etc.), contacts the enterprise and finds out if it is busy? If it is free, then students are announced that there is such a vacancy with such and such a salary.​

However, not all of those students who agree will fit. Natalya Kudrevatykh emphasized that these should be students who are successful in their studies. And completed at least two courses. It is expected that most of those wishing to go to enterprises will be among students of the 4th and 5th courses.

“The one who agrees, writes an application with a request to transfer him to study using distance technologies,” continues the Vice-Rector. – At our university, all disciplines are presented in a virtual learning environment. In his free time, the student can independently listen to lectures, perform practical tasks.

– Will the quality of education suffer in this case?

– He will have free time, he will not always be busy in production. He can arrange consultations with teachers if something is not clear to him. All teachers were instructed that, in connection with the current situation, it is necessary to work additionally with students, they all agreed. The main condition is that the student is already successful in his studies, so he will be able to continue his studies in a distance format. We do not send academic debtors. We will control that the guys do not forget and study …

We are a technical university, and the exit was mostly due to male techies, so now more than ever, blue-collar jobs are needed. We have a structure inside the university that teaches under the programs of secondary vocational education, I think these guys will be even more in demand.

The vice-rector noted that she could not name the numbers of applicants yet, since the university began working on this program on October 20.

The head of Kuzbass Sergey Tsivilev also noted that in accordance with this order, it will be necessary to “make changes to the curricula in order to organize the educational process.”

There have been reports of this practice being introduced in other regions as well. For example, in the Far East, 50 senior students of a railway college reportedly came out to replace the mobilized workers of the Ussuriysk Locomotive Repair Plant.
