Deputy Gavrilov reminded how to properly tidy up a summer cottage after winter

Chairman of the RF State Duma Committee on Land Relations Sergei Gavrilov told how to put a summer cottage plot and the land next to it in order after winter.

As soon as the sun begins to get hot, debris appears from under the snow – large branches, rotten leaves, dry bushes, etc., the parliamentarian recalled spring dacha “signs”. Consequently, summer residents, after a long winter downtime, must take care of how the house, garden and outbuildings must be brought into proper shape.

The parliamentarian outlined the procedure for this: first, you need to carry out a general cleaning of the territory – remove dead wood from greenhouses and flower beds, clear the lawn of debris and leaves with a rake.

Along with cleaning, it is important to trim broken or frozen branches from fruit trees and bushes. It is better to take out the collected garbage rather than burn it on the site, Gavrilov recommends.

Next, having previously dug up the soil, you should “feed” it using universal fertilizers for fruit bushes and flowers.

If the temperature remains above zero around the clock, then “you can remove the fabric from the bushes, uncover the roses after hibernation” – another practical advice from the deputy.

It is necessary to check communications – pipes and hoses.

The next point is to inspect the roof, which may have caved in under the snow. Next, “fix the gutters, patch up the foundation, repair the tile path with waterproof grout.”

Also, “be sure to open windows and doors on a sunny day.” That’s all.
