The All-Russian Sambo Federation announced on its website the death at the age of 70 of the famous Soviet sambist, three-time world champion, two-time European champion Nikolai Baranov.
Nikolai Baranov, after retiring from sports, worked as a coach at the sambo school in the city of Kstovo, and also headed the Sport Fund and Sport Plus LLC.
He raised two-time world champion Nikolai Igrushkin, as well as the first Russian champion of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Oleg Taktarov, who became a famous actor.
