Kuban athletes became winners of the country championship in athletics

Athletes from the Krasnodar Territory became winners and prize-winners of the RF Athletics Championship. The tournament among juniors ended in the capital of the country on Sunday, July 2. The Kuban national team won the 3rd place according to the results of the team standings. Representatives of the region won 4 “gold”, 5 “silver” and 4 “bronze”.
In total, over 930 girls and boys from 71 constituent entities of the Russian Federation competed for the victory. From the Krasnodar Territory, 28 athletes performed at the tournament. The Kuban team earned 406 points, losing to Muscovites (411 points) and representatives of the northern capital of the country (422 points).
One of the main events of the competition was the Russian record. It was put by a resident of the Ust-Labinsk municipality Sofya Yakushina. The junior has surpassed the result of Svetlana Sokolova – 6050 points, which no one has been able to beat since 1998. Sofia earned 6101 points and became the new country record holder in the heptathlon.
Timofei Bukhtiyar from the Korenovsky municipality became the best in the 100 meters. Elizaveta Romanova from the Temryuk municipality was the best in the 400m hurdles. Daria Azarova from Krasnodar took gold in the 2000m hurdles.
The second place in the 400 meters was won by Daniil Markov from the Yeysk municipality and Daria Povoraznyuk from the capital of Kuban. Vladislav Chekhlyankov from Krasnodar took silver in the 110m hurdles. Sophia Dolzhikova from Krasnodar was second in the pole vault, and Angelina Litvinova won silver in the hammer throw. Timofey Bukhtiyar, Andrey Vecherya from the Crimean municipality, Daniil Markov from the Yeysk municipality and Vladislav Chekhlyankov from Krasnodar became the 3rd in the 4 x 100 meters relay.
