Typhoon Lan, the seventh this year, will begin to noticeably affect the weather in Primorye on the evening of August 16. Typhoon Hanoun has recently left the region. The mayor of Ussuriysk, the city hardest hit by the rains, announced his readiness for a new wave of bad weather. The region is already experiencing heavy rains.
“It will rain this afternoon, sometimes heavy (15-45 mm of precipitation in 12 hours or less), in the evening in the eastern part of the region very heavy in places (50 mm or more of precipitation in 12 hours or less). On the night of August 17, due to Typhoon Lan, the intensity of rain will increase and spread to most of the territory of the region,” the press service of the Hydrometeorological Center told TASS. The east of Primorye will be flooded the most: the total amount of precipitation here will be 80-150 mm (60-120% of the norm for the month).
In the upper reaches of the rivers of the Ussuri basin, water has just begun to subside after the effects of the previous typhoon. The rise in water in the rivers of the basin by 0.2-1 m is expected. The head of the Ussuri urban district, Yevgeny Korzh, said that the authorities were ready for a typhoon. “Forecasters warn that a new typhoon is moving to the edge. Ussuriysk, as they say, should not fall into its zone, but all the same, we are ready, if anything, always, so that our people do not suffer. We have not lost a single person now, I think that we will not lose anyone further, ”he said on RBC.
Due to the consequences of typhoon “Hanun” in the Primorsky Territory, 4.6 thousand apartment and private houses were flooded. In Primorye, a state of emergency was introduced.
