Russian specialists are working on options for filling the North Crimean Canal with water from the Dnieper using pumps, the head of the Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, told reporters.

According to him, the installation of pumps on the Dnieper and the supply of up to 40 cubic meters of water per second to the canal will allow Crimea to completely cover all the needs of land reclamation. “This option is being studied both at the republican and federal levels,” the governor specified.

He also noted that the Crimean rice producers, deprived of water due to the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, will receive compensation.

Recall that the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station collapsed on June 6. Acting regional governor Vladimir Saldo said that up to 40,000 people were in the disaster zone. Several cities and towns were flooded almost.
