Experts told how the Ukrainian Armed Forces are being driven into a new cauldron near Chasov Yar

In the Avdeevsky direction, units of the Center group of troops liberated the village of Lastochkino and continued to improve the situation along the front line. The Russian Ministry of Defense officially announced this on Monday, February 26. Meanwhile, military experts note that the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ problems in this area are just beginning. The Russian army, they say, is moving “according to its plans.” The position of Ukrainian troops on the new defensive lines beyond Avdiivka is unenviable.

Our first assault troops were on the outskirts of the village of Lastochkino on February 23, a week after the liberation of Avdeevka. Nevertheless, the Ministry of Defense only officially announced the liberation of this settlement on February 26, having waited for the complete withdrawal of the enemy, who, apparently, did not even have time to really dig in in new positions.

The command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces recognized our offensive along the entire Avdeevka direction and the withdrawal of its troops, stating, however, that such a maneuver was allegedly necessary to organize defense along the Orlovka-Tonenkoye-Berdychi line.

A representative of the Tavria Armed Forces of Ukraine group complained that our troops are using the same new tactics that were used during the liberation of Avdiivka: sending so-called “smart” bombs to the enemy’s heads, coupled with large-caliber artillery and FPV drones.

According to analysts, the settlements that are located west of Avdeevka – Orlovka, Tonenkoye and Berdychi – will also be difficult for the enemy to hold. The fighters write that the position of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the western area of Avdiivka is threatening, the enemy is non-stop fleeing from our attacks with gliding aircraft bombs, including the so-called “vacuum” – volumetric detonating ones.

Military experts argue that in the Avdeevka area, in the very near future, movement in a northern direction rather than in a western direction will be much more important. They report that in order to eliminate the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ fortifications on the Ocheretino-Zhelannye-Novogrodovka line, we have already begun artillery preparation. Now our cannon and rocket artillery and aviation are actively working there.

According to military expert Yuri Podolyaki, the northern direction opens up good prospects for us: movement through Ocheretino and Novokalinovo (north and northwest) allows us not only to reach the flank and rear of the enemy group, but also to move along the watershed, without crossing rivers. The expert notes that this is especially important during the period of mud, which has already arrived here.

If we can simultaneously liberate Ocheretino and break through the enemy’s defenses in the Chasov Yar area, then we will have “brilliant prospects for organizing a large cauldron for the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Toretsk area,” he concludes.

“As for Chasov Yar, the task of liberating it, as we see from the reports of recent weeks, is also on the agenda. And therefore, I think, it is by no means accidental that this morning our Aerospace Forces transferred the full brunt of the “cast iron” attacks they were inflicting from Avdeevka to the Chasov Yar area,” the military analyst concluded.
