We are all habitually afraid of leap years, retrograde Mercury, “eclipse corridors” and magnetic storms, but it turns out that we need to be afraid of something completely different – the transition period between the old and new years, which is also called the “probationary period” for earthlings, and it is right now at it’s peak. Astrologer Olga Grankina listed the dangers that threaten each of the zodiac signs in January.

According to the Chinese calendar, the Year of the Dragon will begin only in February, but according to our calendar we have already met it, although in fact we are still in the “neutral zone” between the outgoing Rabbit and the advancing Dragon. In Eastern astrology, it is believed that people living according to the Gregorian calendar find themselves in a kind of “timelessness” in January, where they must take care of themselves, since they are not protected by either the outgoing totem (symbol and owner of the year) or its successor. “The first thing they always ask is about Mercury retrograde and eclipse corridors,” agrees astrologer Olga Grankina. – I can immediately console the Russians: in 2024, specifically on Russian territory, eclipses will pass almost unnoticed and will not have any negative impact on the residents of our country. This time, the United States will fall into the eclipse corridor the hardest of all, and this will be especially felt on April 7th.

As for retrograde Mercury, beloved by ordinary people, the year 2024 began with it: from December 13, 2023 to January 2 of the new year, retrograde Mercury was in Sagittarius, which most likely slightly darkened the holidays for representatives of this sign. The fact is that the movement of the planet backwards gives the effect of returning to the past. It’s good if it’s for the good, but started things, projects, etc. can also “roll back.” In the coming year, Mercury will “drag us back” three more times: 1.04 – 25.04 – in the sign of Aries, 5.08-28.08 – in Virgo and Leo, and 26.11 – 15.12 – again in Sagittarius. During these periods, it is better for these signs not to conflict with the “will” of Mercury – not to start anything new, but to go back on their own, but in a good sense – to complete interrupted training, complete unfinished business, and correct some mistakes of the past.

Mars, responsible for any energy of active action that requires strength, will become retrograde only at the end of the year – it will turn back on December 7, 2024 and will continue its reverse movement until February 24, 2025. Therefore, it is better not to delay situations where you need to defend yourself and your opinion until the end of the year: on retrograde Mars, resolving such issues is much more difficult, especially for Aries and Scorpios. When Mars moves forward, it protects these two signs, but when it goes retrograde, it literally disarms them, depriving them of their usual assertiveness and determination.

– Is it true that January is especially dangerous for some signs?

– True, but in the sense that in the coming year they have their own periods of prosperity, and outside of them there are specific risks. For example, Aquarians will begin to manifest themselves especially brightly in November, when Pluto endows them with its “transformation resource.” But in January they are at risk of hypothermia, colds and, as a result, the likelihood of infections and complications.

In the middle of the coming year, Jupiter will move from Taurus to Gemini, after which the importance of communication, communication and intelligence will come to the fore. Jupiter, as a planet of great happiness, will bring it to everyone with whom it “visits”: in the first half of the year to Taurus, in the second to Gemini. The conjunction of Jupiter and Uranus in Taurus may give rise to a financial and/or food crisis, but specifically for Taurus it will turn out to be a niche for unexpected large profits. But until this moment they are at risk of complete ruin, especially in January.

In the coming year, Neptune continues its movement through the sign of Pisces, which means continued changes in the general religious structure of the world and in individual faiths; in general, the influence of orthodox views will increase. Neptune will have a special influence not only on Pisces, but also on the other two participants in the water trine – Cancers and Scorpios. For all three signs, 2024 is good for creativity and creative solutions. Specifically, Cancers may change jobs or partners, and many Scorpios will have to move. But for all this to pass with a plus sign, water signs in January must abstain from talking and consuming anything – food, drink, medicine, etc.

Capricorns in 2024 will again feel the lightness that they almost lost in 2023, this lightness will be especially noticeable towards the end of the year – in November. At this time, Pluto will leave their sign, which means that the deep transformations of Capricorns are completed.
