Snow sculptures reach down to genitals

The trend of the times is protest through an indecent image

In the last century, Russian cities in winter became real galleries of elegant snow sculptures. Three-meter-tall Santa Clauses, fortresses, palaces and entire troikas with horses, not to mention giant snowmen, were sculpted not by sculptors in squares, but by enthusiasts in courtyards. Now the images have become more modern. The trend this winter has become… snow phalluses. How could this happen?

“Snow members are walking across the country…”. Spicy snowmen began to appear in different parts of our country as soon as the snow began to fall. Joyful users of social networks at first simply shared their impressions of the abrupt start of winter, but very soon their dissatisfaction found expression in “members” – this is how users have already dubbed the snowy figures of phalluses. The petty prank continues to spread throughout the country.

It all started in Yekaterinburg. The first “sculpture” was created by Mathematical Mechanics students right in the park near the UrFU building. The composition did not live long – that same evening local utility workers demolished the figure on a tractor. A little later on social networks this confrontation was dubbed the struggle of “security forces against members.”

After this, phalluses made of snow began to appear throughout the city. And although the original exhibit did not live long, the flash mob was started.

After a while, local authorities nevertheless paid attention to a new type of folk art: Vice-Mayor of Yekaterinburg Alexey Bubnov asked to send their photos to him in a personal message, and also stated the need to involve law enforcement agencies in the fight against provocation.

Soon, residents of the Samara region also began to sculpt “members”: sculptures appeared both in Tolyatti and on Kirov Avenue in the regional capital.

The Saratov region also took over the baton from Yekaterinburg. An art object of immodest size appeared in the Kuibyshev park in Balashov.

The piquant statues have reached Khabarovsk: a video is circulating in local public pages and district chats, in which you can see that the “member” is standing within the city limits by the road.

“This is just a disaster: snow members are marching across the country, and have even reached my small homeland,” complained Muscovite Inga, who moved to the capital from Khabarovsk. “They used to write a three-letter word on the fence, but now they’ve gone to such lengths and wasted time.” It seems to me that such “sculptors” should be fined. What if the children see it?

State Duma deputy Vitaly Milonov did not appreciate the creativity of Russians. According to Milonov, the authors of such sculptures should have “the same thing” tattooed on their foreheads. “In the past, snow sculptures symbolized the wonders and magic of the winter period, reflecting folk ideas about Father Frost, the Snow Maiden, and other images associated with the holidays,” says psychologist Olga Vikhreva . – The creation of such sculptures was part of winter rituals, where people expressed their beliefs and hopes for a brighter future. In modern times, snow sculptures embodying phalluses are the result of changing cultural beliefs and perceptions among young people. This may be due to a free attitude towards sexuality, an attempt to introduce playfulness and contraversion into sculptural forms, or a banal protest.
