“They haven’t been looking for a pervert for two months”: near Yekaterinburg, they complained about the inaction of law enforcement officers

Orphans in state-run children’s institutions are the easiest prey for perverts of all stripes. If parents can still notice changes in the child’s behavior and sound the alarm in time, then children in orphanages are not protected from sexual violence in any way.

In this case, we are talking about three girls, a 15-year-old pupil of the Social Rehabilitation Center for Minors “Zavodouspensky Tugulymsky District” and her two girlfriends aged 13 and 15. Throughout January, an unknown man, with the help of obscene threats and intimidation (MK has screenshots of his messages. – Author), forced the girls to take their photos and videos in the nude and send them to him.

Volunteer Elena Veselaya, who has been helping this orphanage for six years, told MK about this monstrous situation. It was her trusting relationship with the pupil, who became the victim of a pedophile, that made it possible to open this vile case.

– This orphanage is located in the village, now there are 31 children and 56 employees in it, – says Elena. – Some of the children live there temporarily (when parents impose restrictions on parental rights), some permanently. I know all the children – who is friends with whom, all the teachers, etc. Children are all normal: healthy, smart, beautiful. To earn their trust, it was necessary to constantly, from year to year, come to them, make friends. As a mentor, I lead two pupils, Christina (name changed. – Author) and another boy. When I came to visit the children in January of this year, I noticed that Christina’s behavior had changed. She became depressed, hardly ate. I began to ask her what happened, but she was silent for three weeks. I asked the director of the orphanage what happened to Christina. And on February 2, she broke through: in the evening she began to write to me, telling me that a certain adult man had been harassing her all January. He blackmails her, forces her to stand in different poses and film herself naked. She felt guilty, thought that I would scold her, so she did not confess for a long time …

It all started with the social network “VKontakte”. Kristina and her friends were playing some kind of chat roulette, a pedophile somehow entered the chat, threw a link there. Kristina went to the link, the attacker hacked into her page, began to send her various vile tasks on VKontakte and via Telegram and threats if she refused to do something.

“I advised Kristina to “ignore” the pedophile and promised that I would start looking into this,” Elena continued. – But he began to threaten her from other accounts that he would send her nude photos to friends and teachers. And he began to send. And he did it cunningly: he sends it to people, they open the photo, and he immediately deletes them “from everyone”. And it’s like he didn’t send anything. Even the biology teacher at school got her photo. The girl began to bully at school, laugh at her. She is from an orphanage, there is no one to protect her …

In addition to Christina, two more village “home” girls, her school friends, became victims of the pedophile. “When Christina was not enough for him, he began to force them to send him their naked photos too,” says Elena. “And he also transmitted threats to Christina through them when she did not answer him” … I came to the orphanage to meet with the director, the social teacher and Christina, you can’t even imagine what condition the child was in. She was shaking all over, she had a completely white face … I had always been on good terms with the director, but after this state of emergency they deteriorated. She stated that the girl “is to blame for everything” and “they do not need publicity.”

As Elena says, in the Investigative Committee, where she arrived with Christina, they were greeted with smirks. They said that “90% of the matter is hanging” and “why do you need this?”. At first they did not want to accept applications, but Elena insisted. In one statement, all three injured girls were registered.

Elena knows nothing about the pervert. It can be assumed that he lives in the same region, since he threatened the girl that he would “drive up to the orphanage” if she did not complete the next “task”.

The director of the Zavodouspensky orphanage, Olga Sorokina, refused to give comments to MK, and the Ministry of Social Policy of the Sverdlovsk Region replied that “the ministry organized an internal audit in the institution.” “As for the incident with harassment on the Web and blackmail of one pupil, a criminal case on this fact was opened back in February on the basis of a statement written by a minor,” they said.

“Despite the fact that the case was initiated, two months have passed, but nothing is being done,” Elena complains. – The pedophile was never found, and he got in touch three times and sent threats to Christina. Reports of this were ignored by the authorities.

– The problem of sexual insecurity of orphans remains very acute, – Alexander Gezalov, a public figure, an expert on social orphanhood, commented on this incident to MK. – Sexual illiteracy of pupils in orphanages is a separate story. Children do not know at all and do not understand with whom they sometimes communicate, it is easiest for intruders to get in touch with them. From the picture, from the avatar on the social network, it is clear that the child is from an orphanage. Pedophiles easily figure this out. Sometimes children directly on their pages indicate that they are from such an institution. It is much easier for pedophiles to ingratiate themselves with such children than with “home-grown children”. Promise something from material wealth, invite somewhere. Given that the children in the orphanage are deprived of many things, they follow such a person.

Moreover, often the orphans themselves cannot even identify that illegal actions are being committed with them, because sexual contacts also take place inside the orphanage. Children from orphanages are in great danger in terms of sexual revelry. Children at puberty, in a confined space and with a shaft of information from social networks, begin to practice on younger pupils, thereby breaking the law. At the same time, they may think that nothing will come out and they will not suffer any punishment, because, for example, before that, other crimes were covered by the administration.

When people from outside the orphanage come out on social networks, as in this case, this is a crime of a different kind. The article is very serious – violation of the sexual inviolability of minors, and I hope that the competent authorities will bring this case to an end. Although such incidents should be dealt with not only by the authorities, but also by the administration of the institution where the children are. Because the issues of children’s safety, trust between them and caregivers and responsibility of adults are the primary issues of social institutions.
